Editorial Standards
These standards describe how MEDUZA stories are chosen, written, checked and corrected. They apply to everything published under the byline MEDUZA Editorial.
Options, not rules
Style is a matter of judgement. When a story suggests a combination, a proportion or a colour, it presents it as one option and explains the reasoning. We do not publish rules about who may wear what, and we do not describe bodies as problems to be corrected. Words such as “flattering”, “slimming” and “age-appropriate” are not part of our vocabulary.
Useful without shopping
A story should help a reader who buys nothing. We do not manufacture urgency, publish prices or discounts, or call anything a “must-have”. Examples use ordinary garments rather than specific branded products.
Facts and sources
Some statements can be checked: what a care symbol means, how a fibre behaves, how shoes should be fitted, where a garment comes from. For these we rely on sources such as standards and labelling bodies, fibre and textile organisations, museums and conservation departments, university extension services and professional associations. The sources used are listed at the end of the story. A retailer’s product page is not treated as evidence.
General care advice never outranks the label on your own garment. We do not promise that a wash, a stain treatment or a repair will succeed.
No invented experience
MEDUZA does not test or wear-test products, and no story claims that it did. We do not invent stylists, quotes, interviews, reviews, ratings, collections or trends. If a trend is discussed as current, the season or period is stated and the claim is checked against primary material; otherwise it is left out.
Environmental claims
We do not call a garment or fibre “sustainable” or “eco-friendly” on the strength of its name. Where we talk about longevity, we mean only that clothes which are worn and cared for are used more.
Photographs
Photographs are licensed images chosen to illustrate a subject or a mood. Unless a caption says otherwise, a photograph does not show the exact garments described in the text, and no pictured person is a member of staff, an expert or an endorser. Photographer and source are credited with each lead image.
Dates and updates
The date on a story is the day it was actually published. “Updated” appears only when guidance or facts were changed, together with a note saying what changed.
Advertising
Advertising is labelled “Sponsored” or “Advertisement” and names the advertiser. It has no influence on editorial stories. See the Advertising & Affiliate Policy.
Mistakes
If something is wrong, we want to know. The process is described on the Corrections page.
